Objectives
-
Build a website based off the clients priorities
-
Add MLS integration and house search to the site
First Steps
My first step in this process was to outline the client's key priorities. Since this website was designed for a real estate agent, the primary goals were to establish a strong brand presence, maintain a professional appearance, attract both buyers and sellers, and effectively showcase her portfolio. By focusing on these objectives, I ensured that the site would serve as a valuable tool for growing her business and engaging potential clients.
Priorities
1. Colors: Navy, professional, inviting
2. Elements: Neighborhoods, Home, About Me, MLS, As Seen in, Reviews
3. Text: Professional, clean
Designing the Landing Page
The client wanted the landing page to feature a comprehensive set of elements that would immediately engage visitors and provide a clear understanding of her services. These elements included:
-
A video showcase of her current listing to capture attention.
-
An "About Me" section to establish credibility and connect with potential clients.
-
Client reviews to build trust and highlight positive experiences.
-
A curated selection of her favorite sold properties, showcasing her expertise and success in the market.
By incorporating these components, the landing page effectively conveys her brand, professionalism, and track record to prospective buyers and sellers.
1. Visual Showcase: We incorporated images of the local area to help visitors feel more familiar and connected with their new surroundings.
2. Blog Section – Hacks & Hints: This creatively named section provides useful tips and insights, aligning with our ongoing theme of support and guidance.
Adding Detail
The client wanted the website to showcase neighborhoods to help buyers explore their future community. To provide the best experience, we integrated data from the U.S. Census, city resources, and local school districts, offering valuable insights into demographics, amenities, and schools.
3. About Me Slide: We included an "About Me" slide for each group member to introduce themselves and clarify which part of the blog they contribute to, fostering transparency and connection.
MLS Integration
Integrating MLS into the client’s website required adding a third-party app, a crucial step for meeting her needs. However, the process significantly delayed the launch, making it impossible to meet the January 1 deadline she originally wanted.

My Takeaways
This project helped me understand more in-depth website development. The customization required for this project was much higher than any other and required research and learning of a new software. I found that add-ons can be important in different projects in order to meet objectives.
